- nova’s extended bio is here !here’s a synopsis of nova’s backstory:• Nova was born in The Nine Hells, and is a cambion (or tiefling), descended from lust demons. They were a sickly child, treated like a parasite by their mother, and cast away to live in the earthen realm once they reached the age where they learned to glamour correctly.• Their father took care of them for most of their life, the two of them living outside of New York for a time, and moving to Brooklyn once he got a job in construction (skyscraper building, specifically. Other facts about Nova's father include: he was honorably discharged from the army, citing unspecified mental issues as the reason why, and later, he would go on to cheat on Nova's mother, with another man. It should be stated that this isn't the reason why Nova's mother would finally go on to leave him — it was because he was abusive to the man he was with, beating him to near death because he felt guilt.) Nova's mother is not to be seen as a good person either. These are just fucked up circumstances that they happened to be born into, unfortunately.• they started showing disturbing signs around the age of 12 — catching, killing, and eating small animals. their father never caught on, neither did their mother, and their friends were none the wiser. they then began to target humans.• with the oncoming of puberty came the development of their powers, which they slowly began to put to use. people started to go missing, but with an overworked and understaffed police department, it was never really looked into. by 19, they began to be called the red lady, having built up a reputation for themself in the underground as being the culprit of the 2020 disappearance cases.• their reputation proceeds them in some places, even now. At 23, they work many odd jobs, all having to do with their abilities. they do as they please otherwise, afraid of nothing, and no one.
nova's psyche:
nova is, surprisingly, a very coy individual, despite her outward confidence (that can read as being cocky, thanks to her smugness). she is very assertive (maybe a little headstrong at times), and unashamed of who she is, as a whole. however, her assertiveness can make her seem bratty, or even downright spoiled. her confidence can seem like a double-edged sword, because of her over-confidence in her abilities. she can be very impulsive, tending to jump into things without thinking of the consequences.despite being pretty good at communication, nova does lapse. in those moments, she tends to draw into herself, preferring to repress her emotions, and brood. this cycle tends to feed into her vindictiveness, which in turn feeds into her jealousy issues, which causes her to push people away, and isolate even more.she struggles a lot with doing what feels right to her, and what is good.
nova's abilities:
— dream manipulation: they are able to make themself appear in people’s dreams / imaginations.— Enhanced Libido: because they are the descendant of a lust demon, their sexual appetite is naturally heightened, and so is their sexual performance. It takes a lot to wear them out.— Enhanced Strength: they can lift up to ~a ton (2000 lbs) when angered past reconciliation.— Extra Endurance: they can endure pain longer than the average human. (they've been tortured numerous times and has developed a pretty high pain tolerance.)— glamour magic: they can glamour themself to appear as the person that someone is infatuated with, and can glamour themself to appear human.— Possession: This is a fairly new skill that they have been working on, but they can possess people’s bodies to act as a vessel for them. It has only been successful on one occasion thus far.— Regeneration: they can heal themself. This ability slows down depending on the severity of the injury, but if they can get away long enough (provided the opportunity), they will still be able to do it. if targeted in the heart or brain, there is a chance that they will die.— Shapeshifting: Not only can Nova shift into the opposite sex, they can also shift into the form that people desire most. This can manifest itself in many different ways, but usually involves them redistributing
her body mass to better fit what people want to see them as. (ie: they can make their breasts and such bigger.)— Summoning: they can be summoned via pentagram or spell.— Super Speed: they can run faster than the average human, clocking in (at their fastest) at 50 mph.— Teleportation: they can disappear and reappear in a cloud smoke, and can go anywhere, as long as they've seen it once. they usually have to stalk their target(s) for days or weeks to know its habits.— The ability to manipulate the sharpness of her tail’s spade: Nova can make the spade on the end of their tail as sharp and stiff as a razor. Usually, if they're unarmed and in a really tricky situation, they will use this trick.— weapon summoning: they can summon a scythe to use in battle.
